Welcome to using NewSoft's Presto! MediaPlayer v3.0. Before enjoying this software, please read the following descriptions carefully. These release notes may help
you to play this program smoothly and find out the solution when you encounter a problem.
1. System Requirement :
Hardware :
- 386PC or above
- CD-ROM drive that can support CD-I and Video-CD format
- Sound card with mixer program. Microsoft Sound System compatible sound card is recommended.
- MPEG playback card with MCI driver
Software :
- Microsoft DOS CD Extension Driver
- Video for Windows Run-Time v1.1
- FLI/FLC MCI driver (for playing FLI/FLC files)
- Windows CD-Audio MCI driver (Install from control panel or MediaPlayer Setup program.)
- Microsoft Sound System driver. Otherwise, you shoud define and attach your
sound card mixer program for volume control.
- MPEG MCI driver come with your MPEG card
2. Drivers needed to run Presto! MediaPlayer
2.1 [MCI] Sound Driver : This driver is needed to play WAV file and is installed after installing the Windows. If you lose the driver, you may reinstall it through the driver setting program in Windows Control Panel or run the MediaPlayer's
Setup
2.2 [MCI] MIDI Sequencer : This driver is needed to play MID file and is installed after installing the Windows. If you lose the driver, you may reinstall it through the driver setting program in Windows Control Panel or run the Presto! MediaPlaye
2.3 [MCI] Microsoft Video for Windows: This driver is needed to play AVI file and should be installed through Video for Windows Run Time diskette.
2.4 [MCI] Autodesk Animation Player : This driver is needed to play FLI/FLC files and should be installed from the proprietary software.
2.5 [MCI] CD Audio driver : Presto! MediaPlayer use this driver to play the music CD (CD-DA). If you do not install this driver, you may not play any music CD. You may install this driver through the driver setting program in Windows Control Panel
2.6 [MCI] Mpeg File Player : This driver may have different names and is needed to play MPG files. Run the install program provided by the MPEG playback card to install the driver. If no drivers are installed, please contact the hardware ven
2.7 [MCI] Video CD / Karaoke CD / CD-I driver : This driver may have different sames and is needed to play the Video CD, Karaoke CD or CD-I CD. Run the install program provided by the MPEG playback card to install the driver. If no drivers are
2.8 Microsoft CD Extension Driver : Presto! MediaPlayer use this driver to detect the status of CD-ROM drive and the CD types. Please check MS-DOS manual and install MSCD.EXE in CONFIG.SYS file.
3. Some problems you may encounter:
3.1 : You have two different ways to control the volume when playing back.
a). If you have a Microsoft Sound System compatible sound card and drivers, you can control the volume through Presto! MediaPlayer main panel and its hot-keys.
b). Beside the Microsoft Sound System compatible mixer provided by Presto! MediaPlayer, you can use "Define Mixer" function by clicking the [MIXER] button in main panel to link with your own mixer program, and use "User Mixer" function to invoke t
3.2 : The check box "Playback with drivers' default window" should be checked if your playback window (movie window) do not work well with moving or rescaling operations. This condition may result from the incompleteness of the MPEG driver.
3.3 : Q: When I am using Full Screen mode to play .AVI files, I click mouse to
activate full screen control bar. Why does the full screen player stop and
go back to Movie Window instead of showing the full screen control bar ?
A: Video For Windows takes over all control at full screen mode. First,
while you are in Movie Window with the .AVI file selected, stop playing the
.AVI file and go to full screen mode. Now, you can click left mouse button
to activate the full screen control bar and use all provided features.
